Visitors' Testimonials

We thoroughly enjoyed sharing our home with visitors .  It also appears that the visitors have enjoyed sampling the delights of Islay from Ard Na Mara.  Here are some of the many positive comments we have received

Just the perfect 'Get away from it all' place.  Equipped to a really high standard (and I'm fussy!). This beautiful home is a delight to share with the owners - - much more than a quality holiday home.
Great views, great walks, and could not fault one thing about the house.  Excellent!

We could not ave wanted for a better place to stay and for better weather on our first rip to Islay. We loved Machir Bay, pony trekking and having a dram at the Islay House Hotel.  The warehouse tour at Bunnahbhain is a must, it's amazing.  Thanks lots and lots... WE WILL BE BACK!!

I loved the horses and the beech-- Evie (aged 3)

What an absolutely beautiful house to stay in while visiting the wild and wonderful islay. I've stayed in this house twice now and I've never felt more at home. Great location with plenty of whisky Distilleries nearby and a spectacular view of the ocean and the ferry coming in. The facilities are amazing with everything you need and could think of. Exceptionally clean and tidy. The balcony was my favourite place to sit and watch the boats go by.. So peaceful and you have beaches and oceans right at your front garden. Could not ask for a better house to stay in. Would recommend to anyone

Ard na Mara is a little piece of heaven. We came here on our 'mini moon' with our two young children and had the most amazing and memorable time. The house has everything you could need and more. The beds were extremely comfy, the house lovely and warm with so much beauty a short walk away. The view from balcony was unreal, perfectly matched with a bottle of Prosecco! The owners left us suggestions of where to visit and we were not disappointed! From the Singing Sands to Claggan Bay... nothing compares to Islay's beauty! And 'Islay Sea Adventures' is not to be missed! We have not found anywhere that comes close to comparing with Islay and Ard na Mara- We can't wait to visit again (that's if our friends and family haven't fully booked it from our rave reviews!).

We received a very warm welcome from Kenny when we arrived. The house is simply beautiful and is equipped with everything you need. The views are spectacular and the walk up the coast to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg is a must.

Spent  many a childhood holiday on Islay with family in Port Ellen.  Was great to bring friends back and show them this wonderful place.  The accommodation was perfect in every way - thank you Fiona and Kenny for a beautiful weekend - even although the weather was dreich!!
We will deifinately be back soon

Fantastic place to stay. It is exceptionally well equipped and has fabulous views from the balcony and upstairs lounge. The shops, restaurants and beach of Port Ellen are a short walk away and there are another 2 beaches a short cycle away-about 10 minutes and 30 minutes respectively even for a geriatric like me. There are 3 near-by distilleries for whisky lovers and for non-whisky drinkers, there are also local wines and gin to be sampled. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the luxury of the house, there are walks and bird/wildlife spotting on your doorstep and also horse riding, boat trips and kayaking opportunities. I will certainly return and can recommend it to others.

Lovely, really well equipped, beautiful holiday home on the relaxing island of Islay. Perfect space for a family holiday or group of friends get away. Close to loads of walks and whisky distilleries. Light, spacious and well appointed open plan living area, luxurious bedrooms and the sunrise view from the sofa bed was my favourite wake up this year - the balcony views across the bay are to die for. We never want to leave! Definitely will be staying here again. Thank you!
